5 Million Cats and Dogs are killed yearly!

Monday, August 10th, 2009

The sheer numbers of animals that are being killed yearly is frankly more than I can comprehend and I hope collectively something can be done.  Unfortunately when so many people have had their lives effected by the economic downturn charitable organizations are no getting the help they need and their is no T.A.R.P. for the real needy. An estimated 5 million cats and dogs are killed in shelters each year. That’s one in every six and one half seconds. (The Humane Society of the United States) Millions more are abandoned, only to suffer from illness or injury before dying. (Doris Day Animal League)
Over 56% of dogs and puppies entering shelters are killed, based on reports from over 1,055 facilities across America. (National Counsel on Pet Population Study)
While much of the deaths could be avoided by proper programs the issue needs to be addressed from both sides from population control and finding the funding to give each of these animals a place to find a willing family to adopt them. Our focus as a family and as brand we is we want to bring attention and support No Kill Pet Shelters. Our goal is to help from the profits of our sales of eco-Nature Care. The cost of helping the No Kill shelters is significant from medical, boarding and the overall support required to take care of the animal as well as finding a good home for them.
Our Cat Gypsy was on death row and at the last hour a no kill shelter in  CAT from Sherwood, Oregon rescued her.  Marissa found Gypsy at CAT….or should I say Gypsy found Marissa. One day made a difference in our lives as well as Gypsy. We tend to feel she has special healing qualities that we sense whenever we need help she is their for us.  We will always be in the debt to the organization Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood and they will be the first of our organizations we will send our first check next month from the profits of Eco-Nature Care. There are thousands of other organizations across the country that need  help.  Hopefully you can help as well.
